KLH Model 3 speakers bring new life to music

I never expected to be so pleased with a pair of speakers that look like they were pulled from the 1970s. The KLH Model 3 loudspeakers marry a distinct vintage/mid-century modern design with a substantial build, and in my system they replaced KEF LS50 Meta speakers while delivering sound that could easily be mistaken for a larger floor‑standing pair.

They are available on Amazon for just under $1,500. The Model 3s use the acoustic suspension principle, which lets the enclosure’s air act as a restoring force so the woofer can move more linearly with less distortion. The two‑way system—one woofer and one tweeter—yields a very accurate woofer response up to 1,600 Hz and a smooth, extended tweeter, with an overall frequency response of 46Hz to 20KHz.
