Konami producer shocked to find his 3DS Frogger is now an expensive collectible
Tak Fujii, known online as the “one million troops” guy from Konami's E3 2010 press conference, also served as producer on Frogger 3D, a barely-remembered 3DS revival of the arcade classic. Fujii recently learned the Japanese version has become an expensive collector’s item, and he seems as distraught by the high prices as many modern retro buyers.
He was tagged in a tweet showing a copy priced at ¥19,800 (roughly $125) in a Japanese retro shop. “holy now my title became collectible,” he wrote, adding, “Why I don't have a copy in my hand????” North American versions are fairly common and inexpensive — aside from the edition that comes with a special Frogger-branded 3DS case — but Japanese copies often appear on eBay with listings above $200, suggesting unusual rarity and demand.
