Kurt Russell Teases a Much Bigger Threat Coming for Godzilla in the Monsterverse

Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt Russell discussed Apple TV+'s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2, calling the new season a faster, more urgent follow-up to the first. Picking up after Season 1's revelations, Season 2 finds Monarch's fate—and the world—hanging in the balance.

The story reunites allies and foes on Kong's Skull Island, unearths long-buried secrets and a mysterious village, and sees another mythical Titan surface from the sea. Wyatt called the season "a moving train," more linear and propulsive, while Kurt said many questions from the first year begin to be answered.

Wyatt is also filming a spinoff that will go deeper into Lee's experience after 1982, when the character was put on ice. He said the series, with Joby Harold writing and showrunning, fuses Titan elements and Cold War–era material into a very human, mission-focused story that feels simpler and more concentrated than Monarch's broader scope.
