LA Galaxy exploring free transfer for Casemiro
LA Galaxy are reportedly exploring a free transfer swoop for Manchester United midfielder Casemiro, who has confirmed he will leave Old Trafford when his contract expires in June. He has been enjoying a resurgence under interim manager Michael Carrick and has also been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.
Casemiro joined United from Real Madrid in a £70m deal in 2022 and has made 148 appearances and scored 22 goals for the club during a four-year stint. The 33-year-old has been a key player this season and was a standout in United's three successive wins under Carrick.
According to the Daily Mail, the Galaxy are looking into signing Casemiro under MLS's designated player rule, the mechanism introduced in 2007 when David Beckham joined the club. He could become the third United cult hero to play for the Galaxy after Beckham and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with Beckham having won two MLS Cups and Ibrahimovic having spent two seasons at the club between 2018 and 2019.
