We tested 10 portable power stations in a Kentucky lab, measuring how much power each delivered compared with how much it drew to charge to determine overall efficiency. These devices, which can weigh from about 15 to 100 pounds, are useful for going off-grid, handling outages, or weekend camping.

Tests focused on charge and discharge watt-hours and the time required, using a Round Trip Efficiency metric. The lab apparatus included the unit under test (UUT), a HOBO plug load data logger, a computer to save logged data, and a 480W LED light used as the load; discharge times were measured with a standard 480W load.

The top performers were the Bluetti AC240 for large stations (1,100–2,100 Wh) and the Oupes Mega 1 for small stations (600–1,100 Wh). The Bluetti charged to 100% in 74 minutes, while the Oupes took 21 minutes.
