Lanterns trailer sets August release, turns DCU into True Detective
DC Studios and HBO released the first trailer for Lanterns, and the series is now on track to start streaming in August. The show stars Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart.
Rather than sending the Green Lanterns off to alien worlds, Lanterns stays on Earth as the pair investigate a murder in Nebraska. Jordan is nominally training Stewart—“This is my job, and as long as I’m alive, that ain’t changing,” he says—yet the two clash with each other and with local police who aren’t pleased to have them around.
Nathan Fillion will also appear as Guy Gardner after his turns in Superman and Peacemaker. 2026 will be busy for the DCU on the big screen as well: Supergirl opens June 26, Clayface follows on Oct. 23, and James Gunn’s Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow is slated for July 9, 2027.
