Larian posts chill Baldur's Gate 3 animation packed with mod and meme references
Larian has uploaded a half-hour animation called Chill Demonic Beats To Long Rest To to its community-focused From Hell YouTube channel, pairing a relaxed version of Raphael’s Final Act with Spud Gun Studios’ animated takes on Baldur’s Gate 3’s origin characters relaxing at camp. From Hell normally hosts livestreams and developer interviews, but this upload leans into the “chill beats” aesthetic other games have riffed on.
The video is full of nods to the studio’s previous mod-tools launch clip and well-known mods: the Wizard of Mod — complete with an eightball staff and traffic cone hat — appears to wreak playful chaos, echoing moments from the earlier video such as a plague of giant rabbits and human noses for githyanki.
Those callbacks include a giant rabbit fetching Scratch (BG3’s “best boy,” who sometimes instead returns with Barcus), the Wizard of Mod turning Shadowheart into a tabaxi, and Karlach briefly resembling the Let Me Solo Her mod’s style. Other small gags: Gale uses mage hand on stew ingredients (including a boot) and then pulls out a Glock, while Astarion’s paintings show a very saucy Karlach that’s censored, Larian CEO Swen Vincke, and “Handsome Astarion.” PC Gamer’s write-up praises Larian for continuing to do playful, community-focused content like this, with the author adding it’s tempting motivation to return to an honor mode playthrough.
