Laundry chair: a clever solution or £820 poorly spent?
A bold new hybrid of wardrobe and chair aims to solve the familiar problem of clothes you’ve worn but aren’t ready to wash. The laundry chair is pitched as a place to keep those garments without permanently sacrificing a seat. Inventor and YouTube star Simone Giertz has launched a Kickstarter for the design, priced at $1,100 (£820).
Unlike an ordinary chair that becomes unusable once piled high, this model uses what look like a second set of armrests that are actually a rotating rail. You can drape clothes over the rail, then swivel it to the back so the seat is free when you want to sit. This kind of meticulous tinkering is familiar territory for Giertz: she spent four years on an expanding fruit bowl even though the world hadn’t exactly been crying out for one.
Why? Clicks, probably. You should watch her videos. She’s great.
