In a report from Nbc, Italy has tapped pop star Laura Pausini to perform at the Opening Ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games at San Siro Stadium on February 6; the Olympics said Pausini "authentically embodies the concept" of this year’s theme, "Armonia." Pausini rose to fame in 1993 as an 18-year-old after winning a song contest at the Sanremo Music Festival and went on to record in Italian, Spanish, French, English and Portuguese.

She has been embraced by Latin audiences, contributed songs to film soundtracks, and released hits including "La Solitudine," "Lado Derecho Del Corazón," "En Cambio No," "Vive Ya! (Vivere)" and "Vivimi." Her accolades include a 2006 Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album, four Latin Grammys, being named the Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year in 2023, and receiving the Billboard Icon Award in 2025; her song "Io Si/Seen" earned an Academy Award nomination and won a Golden Globe.
