Lenovo's modular ThinkBook feels closer to a finished laptop
Lenovo unveiled a modular proof of concept ThinkBook at Mobile World Congress 2026 that pairs a detachable dual display and keyboard with swappable ports. Though still in development, the 14-inch design already feels closer to a complete product than many concept devices.
The second display normally sits on the back of the main screen but can be snapped off to replace the keyboard or stand beside the laptop as a portable monitor. A built-in kickstand lets it be propped in landscape or portrait, though it must remain connected by a USB-C cable.
In hands-on use the kickstand felt awkward and hard to maneuver, while the fully detachable keyboard and trackpad—which connect over Bluetooth—work but could benefit from a snap-to mechanism to anchor them to the chassis. Swappable ports were the most interesting element, bringing a level of modular I/O rarely seen on Lenovo’s mainstream machines.
