Robert Lewandowski has laid out the lifestyle changes that have kept him one of the world’s most feared strikers at 37. The Polish international, who has scored close to 400 league goals across Europe’s top-five divisions, said he had to cut out sweet treats and specific food groups to maintain his physical edge.

He traced the shift back to his early twenties, after a breakfast of cornflakes and milk left him feeling sluggish. Lewandowski overhauled his nutrition by cutting out gluten and lactose entirely and eventually stopped eating chocolate. "I thought that because I was skinny - skinny with muscles - I could still eat chocolate.

I thought I could eat whatever I wanted, because I didn't have any fat," he said. "But when I trained, I didn't have any power, and I couldn't understand why... So I started to change.
