Lewandowski: I haven't decided on my future; Genoa wanted me
The 37-year-old Polish striker’s contract with Barcelona is due to expire in June. Still going strong, Robert Lewandowski has been linked with Juventus and Milan as his deal approaches its end.
On his future he was clear: there’s nothing to say today. The aim is to finish the season with as many wins, goals and titles as possible, and he added that he hasn’t decided and is not thinking about it at the moment.
He recalled a brush with Serie A in 2010: while still in Poland and about to join Borussia Dortmund, Genoa wanted to sign him and invited him to their derby against Sampdoria at Marassi. He went to see the club, the stadium and the atmosphere, and said that was the only time he’s had anything to do with an Italian team.
Lewandowski described the Italian league as very competitive, usually a tight contest where it’s not always the same team that wins. Pointing to Champions League runs by Juventus and then Inter, he said Italian football doesn’t seem to be in crisis to him.
