Liam Neeson Sci-Fi Flop Battleship Now Streaming Free on Tubi
Liam Neeson’s 2012 military sci-fi action film Battleship, loosely based on a board game and featuring Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgård, Brooklyn Decker and Rihanna in her feature film debut, is now streaming for free on Tubi. Critics largely dismissed the picture as derivative and nonsensical, highlighting the mismatch between Neeson’s grounded action persona and big‑budget alien spectacle.
The production cost upwards of $220 million and took in about $313 million worldwide, roughly $65 million of that domestically. When marketing expenses and exhibitors’ cuts are considered, The Hollywood Reporter estimated the studio lost approximately $150 million on the release.
Despite its commercial and critical setbacks, Battleship delivers large set pieces and straightforward popcorn entertainment that some viewers may enjoy if they turn their expectations down.
