Goal reports U.S. Women’s National Team captain Lindsey Heaps is returning to her home state of Colorado to join NWSL expansion side Denver Summit FC, with the midfielder set to link up with the club after her season with OL Lyonnes concludes, expected in June 2026.

Heaps, 31, has 170 international caps and 38 goals and currently plays for OL Lyonnes. Her club honours include a UEFA Women’s Champions League title, four Division 1 Féminine championships and the Coupe de France Féminine, and in the NWSL she helped Portland Thorns win the 2017 Championship, NWSL Shields in 2016 and 2021 and earned NWSL MVP in 2018. “Lindsey will bring a world-class level to our team and represents the ambition of this club on-and-off the field,” said Summit FC Head Coach Nick Cushing.

Heaps said in a press release, “I’m incredibly excited to come home to Colorado and join Denver Summit FC.” Born and raised in Golden, Colo., she played for the Colorado Rush and bypassed a college scholarship at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill to sign with Paris Saint-Germain.

Heaps signed with Summit FC through the 2029 season and will finish the Lyonnes campaign before arriving in Denver ahead of the second half of the 2026 NWSL season; OL Lyonnes are due to play Lens on Jan. 14.
