Liverpool monitor Olise and Diomande as plan for Salah succession
Liverpool are stepping up succession planning for Mohamed Salah, who turns 34 this year, and have identified two Bundesliga targets as potential long-term replacements. Sky Sport in Germany says the reigning Premier League champions are closely watching Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise and RB Leipzig’s breakout winger Yan Diomande.
Olise, who moved to Bayern from Crystal Palace, has been on Liverpool’s radar for some time but a deal looks complicated. He has no release clause and remains under contract until 2029, a situation described as very unrealistic for a transfer unless Bayern change their stance.
Nineteen-year-old Diomande has emerged as an alternative after a string of standout performances. Liverpool are observing him “very intensively” for his pace and technical ability, though Leipzig are keen to keep him; the German club would be “ready to talk” only for offers in the region of €100 million (£83m).
