Liverpool to pay £2.8m for Rio Ngumoha after tribunal
Goal reports a tribunal has decided Liverpool must pay £2.8m for Rio Ngumoha, with a potential £4m in add-ons, after the 17-year-old moved from Chelsea's academy in 2024. The Professional Football Compensation Committee ruling is non-negotiable and Liverpool will also owe 20 per cent of any profit if he is sold.
Ngumoha is an England Under-19 international with four caps. Since arriving at Anfield he has made 14 first-team appearances and scored his first senior goal in the 100th minute of a Premier League clash with Newcastle, becoming Liverpool's youngest goalscorer.
Manager Arne Slot has described him as a special talent, noting his playing minutes and qualities in training including one-v-one ability, quick feet and rapid changes of direction. Ngumoha said he was 'so happy to score, especially the winner' and that he wants to prove he can play with older players.
