Liverpool weigh U-turn to re-sign Jarell Quansah at higher cost
Liverpool are considering a U-turn that could bring Jarell Quansah back to Anfield just one year after his departure to Bayer Leverkusen. The 23-year-old moved last summer in a deal worth £35 million, and his rise in the Bundesliga has prompted a rethink of the club’s defensive plans.
Scouts have attended Leverkusen’s last four fixtures to monitor his progress as the club explores triggering a return. A buy-back clause was inserted into the original deal but is not officially active until 2027; Liverpool are looking at the possibility of bringing that arrangement forward this summer.
Leverkusen could demand around €60m if Quansah expresses a desire to return, a figure well above the sum the Reds received less than 12 months ago. Quansah has been a standout performer for Kasper Hjulmand’s side and has chipped in with important goals, including a last-gasp equaliser against Mainz.
