Local Acts on the Las Vegas Strip Set the Vibe
Music was once central to a trip to Las Vegas: in the 1960s, stars such as Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra performed in showrooms while lounges hosted late-night jam sessions. Those freewheeling nights have faded, but the lounge endures and is enjoying a renaissance, with venues from Delilah to speakeasy-style clubs spotlighting local singers in intimate, theatrical settings.
Delilah at the Wynn is a shrine to Jazz Age maximalism with a 160-seat dining room and late-night shows that include feathered dancers and horn players strolling between tables. Christina Amato, a featured performer since the club opened in 2021, said, “We’re not 100 percent the focus point.
We’re creating an environment where people want to come.” Typical entrees run around $55, and Delilah has sister locations in Miami and Los Angeles, with a New York version arriving in May. The Fontainebleau’s Nowhere bills itself as a speakeasy and operates like a jazz club with several house bands nightly.
