Lockin unveiled the V7 Max biometric smart lock at CES 2026, highlighting a wireless optical charging system that the company says removes the need for disposable or rechargeable batteries. Called AuraCharge, the system uses a transmitter you plug into your home that can recharge the lock from up to four meters away.

Power is sent from inside the house via an "eye-safe controlled light beam" that reaches the lock's receiver and is converted into electricity to recharge and power the device. The V7 Max also supports multiple biometric unlocking methods, including fingerprint and palm vein recognition and 3D facial recognition, and features two HD exterior cameras with a panoramic view along with dual five-inch touchscreens.

Lockin is also offering a more affordable Veno Pro deadbolt that uses AuraCharge and provides palm vein recognition, passcode, remote and fingerprint unlocking, plus an outward-facing camera and doorbell button. Lockin has not announced a price for the V7 Max. ZDNET said the V7 Max is expected to launch in the US with orders shipping in mid 2026, and the outlet also said a Mortise smart lock is expected to be available in the US around Q3 2026 with a price expected to exceed $1,000.

"While third-generation power solutions like perovskite solar offer promising innovation, the technology continues to rely on adequate light to function reliably.
