Long-lost George Michael film and live album set for release later this year
A long lost film centered on George Michael’s 1988 Faith tour is set for cinema release later this year, alongside a new album of previously unheard live performances. Titled George Michael: The Faith Tour, the film uses footage from a previously unseen 14-camera shoot of Michael’s performance at Paris’ Bercy Arena in 1988.
A press release calls the project a tour de force in archival filmmaking, celebrating Michael’s ambition and artistry at its peak. Andy Morahan and David Austin, Michael’s longtime collaborators, will direct. The project comes from George Michael Entertainment and Mercury Studios; release date and distribution details have not been revealed.
The film will be presented alongside a short film by photographer Mary McCartney, featuring voiceover from a previously unheard Michael interview and behind-the-scenes footage of the Faith video by Herb Ritts. An 18-track live album titled The Faith Tour will include previously unreleased Wham!
