Longtime Resident Evil Actor Backs Zach Cregger's New Film
Nick Apostolides says the Resident Evil franchise has endured because it keeps letting new creative voices reshape it. He pointed to the upcoming film from Barbarian and Weapons filmmaker Zach Cregger as an example of the kind of bold reinvention that has defined the series.
Speaking ahead of Resident Evil Requiem’s release, Apostolides reflected on his long relationship with the property. “I've been around for 28 years with this franchise as a fan. I've seen it all. And I remember the first time we saw a live-action Resident Evil movie trailer… I was so blown away.
I was in for it,” he said. He argued that flexibility is a strength rather than a weakness: “They keep trying new things. They let their IP be utilized by different creatives with different visions,” Apostolides explained. From the early-2000s Paul W.S. Anderson film to recent remakes and animated projects, each reinterpretation adds to the franchise’s mythology and keeps the community engaged.
