Ludovic Mbock, a competitive fighting-game player known for Street Fighter and King of Fighters, has been detained by ICE. Friends and family launched a GoFundMe organized by David Hazlewood to cover legal representation, fees, and direct assistance; the campaign has a $50,000 goal and raised more than $41,000 in its first day.

Hazlewood urged support in the fundraiser’s description: “Please help Ludovic, who is a wonderful and kind person that makes the world a better place. America is better with him here.” In an update posted February 18, he said the donations so far paid the first round of legal fees and could delay Mbock’s transfer to another ICE facility while lawyers work toward his release.

Details about when, where, and how Mbock was detained remain scarce. A post on Bluesky from writer Sam Machkovech says Mbock emigrated from Cameroon and has lived in the U.S. for “more than half his life,” having graduated from a MD high school in 2006.
