Luke Littler stages comeback after Gerwyn Price misses five match darts
Luke Littler rallied from 0-5 down to beat Gerwyn Price in the final in Dublin, securing his second win of the season. "I’ve no idea how I managed that," the young Englishman said afterwards on Sky Sports, adding: "I won the first leg and had a bit of fun. Then I threw a 180, but Gezzy had the top board, so I’d already waved goodbye [to the fans]." Price missed five match darts at the double 20, and Littler took full advantage of the unexpected opportunity.
The five points from the win moved him up to second place in the table on 16 points, while Josh Rock is still waiting for his first point after a 0-6 defeat to Price in the quarter-finals. Sky pundit Wayne Mardle said: "That doesn’t happen to Gerwyn Price very often.
That’s just the way it is." He added: "It’s so unpredictable; it’s such an unpredictable short format, and you can see that Luke enjoyed winning it." Jonny Clayton tops the standings on 19 points.
