Polygon reports that the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 update adds Luna’s Slumber Islands, a mode accessed by choosing to sleep in bed that lets players visit blank-canvas islands to redecorate. Slumber Islands require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription and an internet connection while you’re on your personal Slumber Island, or you will be returned to your regular island.

This feature is distinct from Luna’s Dream Suite. Based on testing, you can unlock Slumber Islands once you have Luna and Dream Islands unlocked, which requires upgrading your tent to a house; the steps include receiving mail from Luna, lying on your bed and choosing to sleep, talking to Luna about uploading your island as a Dream Island, and then waiting for a follow-up letter that unlocks Slumber Islands.

The outlet noted it’s possible you may not have to upload your island to receive the invite. Slumber Islands are a sandbox: you pick a size and layout, place any item registered in your catalog, add current or past residents (they have limited dialogue), terraform freely, and change time and weather by pressing Left on the D-pad.
