Harry Maguire marked his return to the England squad in unwanted fashion as he was sent off in Manchester United's 2-2 draw at Bournemouth. United twice took the lead — from a Bruno Fernandes penalty and then an own goal by James Hill — but were pegged back on each occasion and had cause to complain about the build-up to Bournemouth's first equaliser.

United dominated early, mustering 11 first-half shots, the most Bournemouth had faced since the 4-4 draw at Old Trafford in December. They looked the brighter side but repeatedly lacked composure in the final third; Amad switched off when Matheus Cunha released a pass that would have set him through, and both Amad and Cunha were denied by goalkeeper Djorde Petrovic.

The opener arrived after Alex Jimenez needlessly pulled Cunha's shirt, allowing Fernandes to score his eighth of the season from the spot. United felt they should have had a second penalty when Amad was felled by Adrien Truffert, but Bournemouth broke quickly and Ryan Christie finished from a Truffert lay-off.
