Mama June has new illness that could leave her immobilized

June “Mama June” Shannon says she is suffering from a mysterious medical issue that "could immobilize" her. "I had a total hysterectomy unexpectedly last year — last April. It was not expected," she said, adding that fibroid cysts had become separated cysts, which "was a scare for me." The surgery felt even more alarming after the passing of daughter Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell, who died in December 2023 after a battle with cancer at 29.

Shannon confirmed she is going through menopause and is "still dealing with medical issues," but stressed those problems are "totally separate" from the end of her menstrual periods. "Some days are a struggle for me, but it's nothing like [cancer]," the 46-year-old said.

"I tell people, 'We know it's not ever gonna kill me, but it could immobilize me.'" She did not provide further details. She has been open about earlier health challenges, including gastric sleeve surgery in 2016.
