'Man of Tomorrow': Release Date, Cast, Plot, & Everything We Know
James Gunn has confirmed a Superman follow-up titled Man of Tomorrow and has been writing the script since June 2025. The film is positioned within the new DC Universe and Gunn has described it as "not a sequel" in the traditional sense; it will focus on Superman while centering heavily on Lex Luthor and introducing Brainiac as a major threat.
Gunn has said the film will have no relation to the earlier animated Superman: Man of Tomorrow or Zack Snyder's original plans. Man of Tomorrow is scheduled to open on July 9, 2027, with filming set to begin in April 2026. Gunn will return as director and is listed as the sole writer.
Sam McCurdy is set to serve as cinematographer, replacing Henry Braham, and some behind-the-scenes roles, such as one of the composers, have been the subject of recent rumor but not official confirmation. The film is currently slated as the fourth DCU release after Superman, Supergirl, and Clayface.
