Man Utd 1-0 Everton: Sesko proves super sub again
Benjamin Sesko came off the bench to fire Manchester United to a narrow and barely deserved 1-0 win at Everton that could be utterly priceless in their quest to finish in the Premier League's top four. The Slovenian, who started on the bench for the sixth game in a row, scored in the 71st minute — his third goal in four appearances.
The goal sprang from a combined effort: Matheus Cunha pinged a diagonal to Bryan Mbeumo, who burst forward and teed up Sesko, who had sprinted into the final third and produced a ruthless finish. The first half was forgettable and there was little more entertainment in the second, but United dug their heels in to protect the lead.
Senne Lammens proved crucial after an early scare, making stops from Garner and Harrison Armstrong and producing an astonishing flying save to deny Michael Keane, while dealing calmly with Everton's aerial bombardment.
