Man Utd fan Frank Ilett denies millionaire claims over hair stunt
The United Strand has set the record straight on how much money he has earned since beginning his viral hair-growing stunt. He vowed in October 2024 not to cut his hair again until United had won five matches in a row and has become a social media sensation during that time, posting hair updates while his favoured team struggled on the pitch.
Frank Ilett — known as the United Strand — said he is "definitely not the millionaire that some people think I am." He has appeared in Paddy Power adverts and launched an e-commerce business, but "it’s not as well paid as some people think," adding that the stunt was not started for money.
He also described the practical downsides: "The real pain has been not being able to see properly. It’s actually lucky that I wear glasses because the frames kind of prop my fringe up a bit. I can hardly see most of the time now.
