Man Utd hit by injury as Luke Shaw limps out vs Crystal Palace
Manchester United’s afternoon worsened when Luke Shaw was forced off with a foot problem 23 minutes into the Premier League clash with Crystal Palace after a challenge from Daniel Munoz. The England left-back clutched his foot, appeared distraught and shook his head as he left the field, leaving manager Michael Carrick to make an early change.
Shaw’s exit came with United already 1-0 down to an early Maxence Lacroix goal. Carrick introduced Noussair Mazraoui on the left, but United went in at the break trailing. Bruno Fernandes levelled early in the second half from the spot after Lacroix was sent off for a last-man challenge on Matheus Cunha.
The club said a full assessment will take place back at the Carrington training complex, with it unclear whether the injury was caused by the collision with Munoz or is a flare-up of a previous problem. United will be hoping the substitution was precautionary rather than the start of another lengthy layoff.
