Man Utd and Man City goalless at half-time as Maguire hits the bar
Manchester United and Manchester City were level 0-0 at half-time at Old Trafford in their Premier League derby.
City had around 72% possession but United were the more dangerous side early on: Harry Maguire headed against the bar in the third minute, Gianluigi Donnarumma made a strong save from Patrick Dorgu, and Senne Lammens kept out a Max Alleyne header. United also had two goals ruled out for offside, including finishes by Amad and Bruno Fernandes, while Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw were booked.
At half-time Pep Guardiola brought on Rayan Cherki and Nico O’Reilly for Max Alleyne and Phil Foden, with Nathan Ake moving to centre-back. Michael Carrick, in interim charge of United until the end of the season, made five changes to the side beaten by Brighton and had Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo back after returning from AFCON; City remain short in central defence and had recalled Max Alleyne from a loan spell.
The second half began with City increasing the tempo as they pushed for a decisive result; the match is ongoing and the outcome remains undecided. United expect to assess candidates for a permanent head coach in the summer, and Carrick has not ruled out taking the job beyond his interim spell.
