Man Utd consider Roberto Martinez among managerial targets
Manchester United are ramping up their search for a permanent manager to lead the club into 2026-27, and Roberto Martinez has been identified by the Old Trafford hierarchy as a potential candidate. Martinez is currently in charge of the Portugal national team. The 52-year-old is a veteran of the Premier League with spells at Swansea City, Wigan Athletic and Everton.
His crowning domestic achievement came in 2013 when he guided Wigan to an FA Cup win over Manchester City, and that experience in the English game is viewed as an asset as United seek to restore consistency on the pitch. Ben Jacobs, speaking on the United Stand podcast, said Martinez’s name is being discussed inside the club.
He added: “Another name that I'm told Manchester United have at least discussed internally, we shouldn't get to excited about it, is Roberto Martinez.
