Players have long asked for duos, and Marathon is rolling one out as a limited test. Game director Joe Ziegler wrote, “Alright, everyone, we’re going a bit rogue here,” and said that as of Wednesday morning 3/18 at 10am PT the team would enable a limited-time duos queue on Perimeter to test how crews of two play at a wider scale.

The plan is to run the test for two weeks. There won’t be matchmaking, so players can only load into duos mode via pre-made groups and will be matched only with other duos squads. The feature wasn’t originally planned for launch and the UX is still in flux — Ziegler warned “things will be a bit jank” and called it “a bit of an experimental feature” that the team expects to change before any final implementation.

He confirmed the goal is to make duos a permanent queue option, presumably across other maps, if the trial goes well.
