Marathon shares a lot with Destiny: vaults, lore, Triumphs, factions and a flood of interplanetary resources. That shared DNA makes a companion app feel like a natural fit for a game with so many overlapping systems. Bungie’s Destiny Companion app works as a second screen, letting players track stats, view vendor inventories, manage gear, check quests, claim lost items and organize their clan without launching the full game.

Those features cut through an MMO’s steady stream of information and free up playtime. For Marathon, a similar tool could let players manage the Vault on the fly — selling unwanted items or building loadouts with drag-and-drop touch controls — as well as check shop stock, track materials for faction upgrades and handle Contracts.

Access to the game’s unlockable text logs on a phone would also help players catch up on lore away from crowded runs, a function Destiny famously put into its app.
