Marathon Runner Shells tier list and class guide

Marathon features seven Runner Shells, each a biologically printed body with a Prime ability, a Tactical, and two Traits. At launch the classes have shifted from hero-shooter characters into more clearly defined roles, and your choice will shape how well you survive on Tau Ceti.

The top tier in this guide is Triage, Vandal and Assassin. Triage excels at keeping teammates alive with Med Drones and can revive allies or EMP enemies from range with Reboot+, making it powerful in team fights. Vandal prioritises mobility—double-jump, enhanced slide and the Amplify ultimate—while its Disrupt Cannon deals explosive damage and pushes foes out of cover.

Assassin focuses on stealth: Smoke Screen and Active Camo enable ambushes and quick repositioning. Other Shells fill distinct roles. Recon reveals enemies with Echo Pulse and uses a Tracker Drone to disrupt foes; Destroyer is the defensive archetype with shoulder-mounted missiles and a Riot Barricade; Thief specialises in looting with a Pickpocket Drone and a Grapple Device for mobility.
