Marathon silk explained

Silk is the currency used to unlock rewards in Marathon's reward passes. It was completely useless during the Server Slam, but with the full game out it now serves a purpose and is usable. Reward passes are permanent, tiered battle passes that offer cosmetic and gameplay-focused rewards.

The Season 1 pass, for example, includes weapon and shell skins, weapon charms, and schemas (blueprints). Silk cannot be bought with real money; you can only earn it through progression, and rewards remain redeemable even after a season ends. Silk is tied to your season level: every time you level up you earn 10 silk.

Season level increases by earning XP from actions like killing enemies, looting containers, and completing contracts. You can hold a maximum of 200 silk at once, with a 140 balance limit and an extra 60 "overflow"; at the time of writing the exact meaning of that overflow is unclear because the Server Slam did not have reward passes available to test.
