Extraction shooters build value by letting players improve their permanent inventory over time, but Marathon suffers from a familiar problem: the vault is far too small. That same complaint has dogged games like Arc Raiders and Escape From Tarkov — your stash simply fills up too quickly.

The vault begins with 160 slots, yet many items consume large amounts of space: assault and sniper rifles use eight slots each, smaller weapons and backpacks use four, and mods, cores, and equipment take two. After a few successful exfils you hit the cap, and much playtime becomes devoted to deciding what to keep.
