Mark Cuban on two types of AI users: learners and non-learners
Mark Cuban said there are two types of large language model users: those who use it to learn everything, and those who use it so they don't have to learn anything.
Cuban has been bullish about AI and argued companies need to embrace it. He has also warned there will be "two types of companies: those who are great at AI, and everybody else," and described AI models as "stupid" but like "a savant that remembers everything."
Bill Gurley of Benchmark agreed "100%" and called AI "jet fuel" for people on custom career paths, saying it lets you learn and soar faster than ever before.
At the same time, others caution AI can erode skills. Arthur Mensch, CEO of Mistral AI, said the biggest risk is "deskilling" and employees becoming lazier as they rely on AI, adding, "You want people to continue learning. Being able to synthesize information and criticize information is a core component to learning."
