Mark Wahlberg's Action Thriller 'Shooter' Streams for Free on Tubi
Mark Wahlberg's 2007 action thriller Shooter will stream for free on Tubi this March. The film is often cited as one of Wahlberg's most violent and plays like a throwback to the straightforward action thrillers Hollywood no longer makes. Based on Stephen Hunter's novel Point of Impact, Shooter follows former Marine sniper Bob Lee Swagger after he is framed for an assassination attempt.
Wahlberg stars as Swagger, who goes on the run to find the corrupt official who set him up; the cast also includes Kate Mara, Danny Glover, Michael Peña and Rhona Mitra, and the film was directed by Antoine Fuqua. Critics were cool to the film — it holds a 40% Rotten Tomatoes rating — while audiences responded more positively, giving it an 80% score from more than 250,000 reviews.
The movie is frequently described as a no-nonsense, good-versus-evil action thriller with plenty of shootouts. Shooter grossed $95 million against a $61 million budget and was considered a financial disappointment.
