Mark Wahlberg’s Pre-'Uncharted' Video Game Disaster Lands on Free Streaming
Though not part of the DC or MCU, Mark Wahlberg has long appeared in video game-based projects. Most recently he played Victor “Sully” Sullivan in Sony Pictures’ Uncharted opposite Tom Holland; Ruben Fleischer directed, and the film — which also featured Antonio Banderas and Tati Gabrielle — grossed $407.1 million worldwide against a $120 million budget, but it largely missed with audiences and critics and drew heavy criticism from gamers.
More than a decade earlier, Wahlberg starred in a different adaptation: Remedy Entertainment and Rockstar Games’ Max Payne, directed by John Moore. He portrayed the titular police detective hunting for the truth about who killed his wife and child, with Mila Kunis, Ludacris and Beau Bridges in the supporting cast.
Max Payne fared poorly with reviewers and moviegoers, holding a 16% critics' approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and 29% from audiences.
