Markiplier’s Iron Lung to Play in Over 2,500 Theaters After Fan Push
Collider reports that Markiplier’s (Mark Fischbach) upcoming film Iron Lung will be released in over 2,500 theaters worldwide, a total expected to rise through fan campaigns, with the film being self-distributed and tickets reportedly selling out. The official trailer for Iron Lung was released on December 12, 2025, showing Fischbach piloting the submersible called The Iron Lung in an Ocean of Blood; on the same day he posted behind-the-scenes footage and said the film was initially scheduled for 60 theaters before expanding to more than 1,000 venues in North America.
Fans across Europe and Oceania launched email campaigns to local theater chains, and some chains that first said a distributor would be required ultimately opened screenings in Australia, New Zealand and the UK. A new report said fans in South America, France, Norway, Germany, Sweden and Spain are still contacting theaters, and film-buying veteran Bill Herting told the publication he believes what Fischbach is doing could be a "glimpse of the future." Iron Lung is a science fiction horror film directed, executive-produced, edited and starring Fischbach, adapted from the 2022 indie game by David Szymanski; Szymanski said on the Quad Damage Podcast in September 2025 that the adaptation is a "serious, proper, horror film" and that the intention was always to secure a theatrical release.
