Martha Plimpton pays tribute to uncle Robert Carradine after his death at 71
Martha Plimpton is mourning her uncle, actor Robert Carradine, who died Monday at 71. She posted an Instagram photo early Tuesday and wrote that 'My Uncle Bobby was the best one of all 8 brothers; blood, adopted, and step.' She recalled he cuddled her when she visited her father in LA at eight or nine, joshed her about being 'the only Carradine from New York' with a 'Come ova hee-ah!
Maw-thuh! Get ova hee-uh!' in a terrible New York accent. Plimpton called him 'the best actor of the bunch. BY A THOUSAND MILES' and urged people to watch him in The Cowboys, The Big Red One and Coming Home. She praised his kindness—'he had inherent KINDNESS in him'—and wrote that he was dear, loving, nonjudgmental, and never lost his decency despite human mistakes.
'I love you, Bobby. You made my world happier. I will miss you enormously,' she concluded. The Carradine family said late Monday that Robert Carradine died by suicide and asked for privacy while acknowledging his nearly two-decade battle with Bipolar Disorder.
