Marvel Rivals addresses 'incentivised throwing' bounty system
Third-party websites began offering bounties on players' heads, a practice known as incentivised throwing where people are paid to deliberately lose matches and claim rewards. Those sites reportedly started as a way to target griefers and match‑throwers but instead produced a surge of throwers, many of whom targeted streamers.
A notable example involved streamer DayMR, whose teammates tried to claim a $200 bounty; three players went 0-57, 0-55 and 0-59 but the team still managed to win thanks to two teammates who continued to play to win. The most prolific site that started the movement has been shut down, but bounties are still being offered through a Discord channel.
