Marvel Rivals enacts Victim Compensation Protocol to restore points

Marvel Rivals has hit a rough patch, with a lack of balance updates and a problem known as "incentivised throwing." A website and Discord channel placed bounties on players, leading some to deliberately lose matches so others could collect payments while the site took a cut.

NetEase has stepped in, increasing penalties for throwing and introducing a Victim Compensation Protocol. If a match loss and point deduction were caused by a teammate's confirmed malicious behaviour, the system will automatically restore lost points and send an in‑game mail notification once compensation is issued.

The developer also deployed a new detection system that combines big data analysis with manual review to identify malicious throwing. Once violations are confirmed, offending accounts will face strict additional penalties.
