More than 25 years after the original X-Men films, Marvel Studios is planning a reboot with a new X-Men movie. Studio boss Kevin Feige first teased the relaunch in 2019, describing a youth-focused reset that could reshape the MCU’s post-Secret Wars, post-Multiverse Saga timeline and favor younger actors and a different tone.

Director Jake Schreier has said the film will lean into the core X-Men themes of complexity and internal conflict, with characters wrestling with identity and their place in the world. That focus on teenagers and young adults follows the MCU’s younger characters who have mostly appeared on television, including Hawkeye, Ms.

Marvel, and Ironheart. Marvel has not confirmed a cast, though the studio has hinted at younger talent. Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel) was teased as mutant-adjacent in her Disney Plus series and later became an X-Men member in the comics. Actor Sadie Sink is heavily rumored to be playing Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
