MAST seeks datasets to support Roman Space Telescope science
A report from Science says the Mikulski Archive for Space Telescopes (MAST) plans to host additional datasets to enhance the scientific output of the Roman Space Telescope and is asking the astronomical community for suggestions via a public questionnaire. Any non-Roman datasets that are publicly available by September 2027 may be considered, with priority given to datasets not already held at a NASA archive or not currently cloud-hosted.
Submissions should include a description of approximately 1–3 paragraphs explaining how the dataset will impact Roman science, which surveys or science cases it will facilitate, and why its current location is insufficient for co-analysis with Roman data. Multiple submissions are welcome but each submission should propose only a single dataset.
Final selections will be made by MAST and Roman leadership based on impact to Roman science, cost given available resources, and ensuring balance among surveys and science cases.
