Matt Mercer has explained the homebrewed Daredevil Fighter subclass used in Campaign 4. It’s built for his Fighter/Rogue Sir Julien Davinos and is meant to deliver a ‘‘high-risk, high-reward’ playstyle. Mercer said, "We’re still developing [Daredevil] as it goes on," and noted he wanted a subclass that leans into danger.

The subclass alters Second Wind so it provides temporary hit points instead of restoring HP and can be spent to activate Daring Strike. We briefly saw this in episode 18 when Julien used Second Wind to trigger Daring Strike: a hit adds an extra 1d10 damage, but a miss gives the enemy advantage on their next attack roll.

Daredevil also interacts with Campaign 4’s homebrewed mechanics, such as Bloodied and Desperate Measures.
