Caught Stealing, directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Austin Butler alongside Regina King, Zoë Kravitz, Liev Schreiber and House of the Dragon’s Matt Smith, has climbed into the top ten most-streamed movies on HBO Max worldwide.

Critics have been largely positive: the film holds an 85% score on Rotten Tomatoes, where the consensus calls it “a freewheeling throwback” that showcases Butler’s charisma and marks a surprisingly lighthearted gearshift for Aronofsky. Ross Bonaime at Collider gave it an 8/10, dubbing it “an exciting Scorsese-esque thrill ride.”

Those plaudits didn’t translate to ticket sales. Against a reported budget of $65 million, the movie struggled to even return $30 million, making it one of the more high-profile box-office failures of the past year.

Caught Stealing is streaming now, while Butler awaits the release of Enemies, an A24 project produced by Ari Aster that finished production last summer but has not yet been dated.
