Matthew Stafford Will Return for 2026 Season After Winning NFL MVP
Fresh off his 17th season, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford won the NFL MVP award at the NFL Honors event Thursday night, a notable achievement for the 37-year-old amid a wave of younger quarterbacks across the league. Stafford led the NFL with 4,707 passing yards and 46 passing touchdowns as the Rams finished 12-5 and mounted a solid playoff run.
While accepting the award he announced he will return for the 2026-2027 season, his 18th in the league. "To my four beautiful daughters who I am lucky enough to be sharing the stage with … I am so happy to have you at the games, on the sideline with me, and I can't wait for you to cheer me on next year when we're out there kicking ass," he said, later noting the decision had been a family one and that he ended the season on a healthy note.
