Maya Hawke gushes over Christian Lee Hutson after surprise wedding
Maya Hawke said she was “ecstatically happy” nearly a month after marrying Christian Lee Hutson in a surprise wedding. At the SXSW 2026 world premiere of her new film, “Wishful Thinking,” she told attendees, “I mean … love is the best.” She linked her own happiness to the film’s characters, adding, “And like, you know, even to connect it to [the characters in ‘Wishful Thinking’], if I had any advice for Charlie and Julia, it would be that they found a way to be more honest with each other about how they feel.” Hawke continued, “Because I really — I feel so lucky to have found my best friend and to have someone I can tell anything to.
It makes something like getting married feel like, oh, of course, you know, not like what, and I’m very, very, very lucky, so I’m really happy.” Hawke, 27, and Hutson, 35, tied the knot in a surprise Valentine’s Day wedding at St. George’s Episcopal Church in New York City last month.
